Eureka Springs Ozark Creative Writer's Conference

The Eureka Springs Creative Writer's Conference will be held from Thursday, October 11th through Sunday, October 14th at the Convention Center, Best Western Inn of the Ozarks.
 

CHRISTOPHER VOGLER

Author of The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers (Michael Wiese Productions, 1999), a guide to story structure based in the patterns of mythology.  Christopher Vogler has been a story analyst and consultant with major Hollywood studios for over fifteen years. He has been in the trenches as a development executive at 20th Century Fox and as a producer and screenwriter. Vogler has evaluated over ten thousand screenplays and consulted for the Walt Disney Company on the hit animated films Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Fantasia, and others. Most recently, he was an executive producer on Steve Guttenberg's adaptation of James Kirkwood's P.S.Your Cat is Dead. He wrote the screenplay and lyrics for the animated feature Jester Till that is now playing in Europe.



BONNIE ORR

Dr. Bonnie Orr has written twenty-seven screenplays, two teleplays, and a TV pilot. Her latest endeavor was producing "Poodle Dog Lounge" (her TV  pilot). Bonnie has taught screenwriting classes at Austin Community College, GSD&M, and at the Writers' Academy.  She is a senior staff writer for ScreenTalk magazine.







KIM LIONETTI

After eight years at Berkley Publishing, Kim Lionetti left her position as Senior Editor to join BookEnds as a literary agent. In her editorial work, Kim enjoyed overseeing an eclectic list in both fiction and nonfiction.  While she enjoys bringing some of that variety to her agenting life, her particular areas of interest are romance, women's fiction, mystery, true crime, pop science, and pop culture.  She enjoys helping authors shape their work into more marketable products and seeing their writing as part of the "bigger picture."

Kim Lionetti will be available for five minute interviews to the first 20 requests.

 


Crow Johnson Evans

Crow Johnson Evans has been a featured speaker and performer at conferences in Kansas, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas. For seven years, she edited and published an international newsprint magazine, Zassafras Music News. Her performances of her own songs appear on eleven albums, with nine of her songs recorded on albums of other artists. She has been described as creating a soulful storytelling mountain folk-jazz performance that is unique and multi-dimensional.


  


Laurie Wagner Buyer

Poet and novelist Laurie Wagner Buyer lives in Woodland Park, Colorado. The recipient of a Colorado Council on the Arts Literature Artist Fellowship, Laurie has worked with CCA as an artist in residence, with the Young Audiences Program, the Aesthetic Education Institute of Colorado, the Online Poetry Project, and Writers on the Net. She is the author of three collections of poetry: Glass-eyed Paint in the Rain, Red Colt Canyon, and the newly released Across the High Divide.  Laurie won the Beryl Markham Prize for Creative Non-fiction from Story Line Press for her memoir Spring's Edge. Her first novel, Side Canyons, is now out in soft cover from Five Star Publishing.

 

 
Chuck Sambuchino

Chuck is an assistant editor at Writer's Digest (www.writersdigest.com). He is a produced playwright, a freelance contributor to Cincinnati newspapers and magazine, and is currently working on a novel. Previously a full-time journalist, he has multiple writing awards from the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists and the Kentucky Press Association.



  


Elizabeth Bartlett

Elizabeth Bartlett is a full-time freelance writer who writes for magazines, newspapers, and other small press publications. She is the newest member of the Board of Directors of Ozark Creative Writers and lives in Eureka Springs with her husband Greg.

 

 


David Marion Wilkinson

David is an award-winning author and long term boardmember of the OCW.  His latest book, One Ranger, a memior of former Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson, is now in its sixth printing and has been optioned for a feature film. He lives in Alpine, Texas.
