Eureka Springs Blue Spring Heritage Center Eureka Gardens The Medicine Wheel Garden features healing herbs and native plants based on spiritual practices of many American Indian nations.

In the American Indian tradition, the garden is planted in a circular design and divided into four sections, starting in the East, then moving through the South, West and North.

The pattern symbolizes the sacred cycles of life and the intimate connection of all living things. It is said that endless lessons of wisdom have been known to be experienced within the Medicine Wheel circle.

The Three Sisters Garden design is an ecosystem creating an interdependent community of plants.

Traditionally, some American Indian people planted pole beans and squash with corn. The corn stalks provided support for the beans to grow and the squash helped retain the moisture from the soil to nurture all the plants.

The deeper meaning of the Three Sisters Garden intertwines the physical and spiritual health of people, with each crop protected by one of the Three Sister spirits.
