Eureka Springs Eagle Watch Weekend

Beginning on Friday, January 26th, 2007 through Sunday, January 28th, 2007 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Schedule of Events:

EAGLE WATCH CRUISES DEPART FROM ROCKY BRANCH MARINA:

Located 12 miles E. of Rogers on Hwy. 12 - take Rd. 303 (4 miles).
Turn left at intersection of Park Rd. (1 mile) then take first right inside Park to Rocky Branch Marina.

FRIDAY, Jan. 26th – Eagle Watch cruises aboard the Belle of the Ozarks will depart from Rocky Branch Marina.

DEPARTURES:
-10:00 am - Guide – Flip Putthoff of The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas.
-1:00 pm - Guide – Mary Anne Viator & Jim Helt of Belle of the Ozarks.
-3:00 pm - Guide - Alan Bland of the U. S. Army Corps of engineers.

Captain Jay Viator will be at the helm for each 2 hour cruise into the winter habitat for the Bald Eagles on Beaver Lake. Experienced guides will provide an informative narration about our birds of prey and other wildlife sighted during each cruise.
Witness mature and immature birds during their winter sociable period and see exciting aerial displays.

SATURDAY, Jan. 27th - Eagle Watch Cruises aboard the Belle of the Ozarks will depart Rocky Branch Marina.

DEPARTURES:
-10:00 am- Guide - Doug James, Professor of Biological Science, U. of A.
-1:00 pm - Guide - Doug James, co-author “ Arkansas Birds” & widely published in the fields of ornithology and ecology, U. of A. Professor.
-3:00 pm - Guide- Alan Bland, takes the Corps’ eagle count on Beaver Lake.

Captain Jay Viator will take Belle of the Ozarks passengers into the Eagles favorite winter habitat on Beaver Lake, getting within 100 feet of the birds in some areas, as guides cover detailed information regarding their habits and features. This will be a rare opportunity for passengers to learn about our National Bird from experts in their fields.

Buffet Dinner 6:00pm at Prairie Creek Steak & Seafood Co. on Hwy. 12 – pay for dinner at restaurant – Serving assortment of 3 meats, vegetables, salad, beverage and desert. $12.50 adults & $4.50 (children under 12).
Reservations required.
Speaker 7:00 pm –Lynn Sciumbato - Morning Star Rehabilitation Center will deliver an informative speech on “Birds of Prey & Wildlife Rehabilitation.” See many of her birds, listen to their calls and watch entertaining interplay. No charge, however, donations are greatly appreciated!

SUNDAY, Jan. 28th – Eagle Watch Cruises aboard the Belle of the Ozarks will depart from Rocky Branch Marina.

Captain Jay Viator will take the Belle of the Ozarks into hollows backing into Hobbs State Park where the Bald Eagles gather during the winter on Beaver Lake for hunting fish and other prey. This area is also a favorite perching location, great photography opportunity with experienced guides helping passengers sight eagles.

*A portion of each ticket for the cruises aboard the Belle of the Ozarks is donated to Morning Star Rehabilitation Center which is a non-profit organization. Your participation in the 14th Annual Beaver Lake Eagle Watch Weekend will help provide food, shelter and flight cages for the birds and animals in need of rehabilitation. Thank You!

RESERVATIONS are required for all cruises and must be Pre-Paid to guarantee seating due to the events popularity & limited space available.
ADMISSION:$18.00 adults & $7.50 children (under 12).

In case of bad weather (snow or ice), Eagle Watch activities will move to the following weekend Feb. 2nd, 3rd & 4th , 2007. WE WILL CALL YOU if there is any change in your departure date and time.

***Dress in layers with hat or hooded coat, gloves, warm socks and footwear. Pocket warmers, camera and binoculars are handy to bring aboard.
